reports August 2025

August 31st, 2025 - click pic collages & albums to enlarge

Due to another trip to Europe I was not in Seychelles for all of the month but have not missed much. Regular checks with the skippers revealed the to be expected rough Southeast Monsoon conditions with wind speeds oscillating around 20 knots and rare windows with a bit less wind allowing to fish a little for the seaworthy tourists. Also those fishings went quite as usual for this time of the year: the cooler water helped to solid trolling with the usual mix of smaller gamefish while Sailfish were abundant in good numbers but not always as cooperative as this one caught by Greg`s guests on TopWater.

The Yellowfin Tuna have also returned to the plateau. Some rather tiny but at times of reasonably good size like this one pleasing his very same guests that day.

One more of those in the background of another Sailfish caught by Mervin`s guests on GameChanger.

Together with this Wahoo they got an Offshore Slam that day.

Not uncommon here at this time as the regular readers will know. Shame there was no Dorado that day to take it a step higher. Mervin and Andre also reported that the commercial boats are catching proper Yellowfins in the 80kg class at the Drop Off but for the small sportfishing boats there was simply no getting there. So much for this short update, hope to deliver more next month. Weather permitting ...
