Having returned from Germany last week and curious what had happened here meanwhile on the fishing front I extended the antennae right away and learned about some nice catches despite there had not been many trips. Seychelles saw more tourists this July than in previous years but these seemed mostly preseason bargain hunters either unwilling or simply unable to spend money on fishing charters. On top it is the time of strong southeast winds and a swell of 2.5 meters of course lures rather few people out at sea. So there were few trips apart from a handful of private ones but overall these went pretty good. Quite a normal thing for the trolling here around this time of the year as long term readers of these reports already know. It all started on the 4th which is the date of the annual Blue Marlin World Cup fished around the world that day. Here in Seychelles fishing out of Mahe the 9G Sportfishing Team competed raising 3 Blue Marlin and succeeding in one hookup but as that fish was below the tournament minimum weight of 500lb it was eventually tagged and released.

After that it was too rough even for the large boats. But towards the mid of the month the Southeast took the short break we get in most years and the fishing addicts came to life. For a start Team 9G released another Blue Marlin.

On top they had 4 Sailfish and also here around Praslin these were abundant in good numbers. Greg and Phillip fishing for fun on Pipsqueak had one and also buddy Rob fishing with friends.

A handful other trips of which a few were charters produced a couple more of those while the smaller Gamefish like Dorados and Tuna were cooperative, too. Mervin on the opposite made good use of the rare opportunity the conditions offered to do a bit of popping with guests from Russia. As usually in that little window of calm the GTs
